Where to Stay in Mallorca, Spain - Castell Son Claret

Where to Stay in Mallorca, Spain - Castell Son Claret

We shall ever forget the moment, when we passed the giant iron gate and drove into the long, palm-lined driveway that leads to the fairytale-looking castle, we couldn’t believe our eyes. A former 19th century castle, Castell Son Claret is set in a Tuscany-like setting, partially hidden by a lush garden, and with towering Tramuntana mountains in the distance.

It is easy to forget that there is actually much more to Mallorca than just beautiful beaches. In fact, there is a a whole other side to it with rolling mountains and hills covered with olive and pine trees . Castell Son Claret is the hidden gem that sits right in the heart of it. After spending days on the crowded beaches, it was so nice to be in a quiet setting, where we could rest, and most importantly, rejuvenate before heading back home.

A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, Castell Son Claret provide nothing but luxury experience for its guests. All the rooms are newly renovated and equipped with high-tech lighting and sound systems. It has the only two-star Michelin restaurant, Zaranda, on the Balearic islands under its belt. Surrounding the castle is perfectly manicured garden, packed with roses, bougainvilleas, eucalyptus, olive, palm trees, and many other plants that we don’t know the names of, is the perfect place for a morning stroll, finishing a summer read, or enjoying an afternoon tea. There are also complimentary bikes that make a great excursion to explore the nearby villages and hills. As the Mallorcan run gets stronger in the afternoons, it is the perfect timing to soak into their giant infinity pool to cool down.

We ate our breakfast and dinner in Olivera, the more casual style restaurant which sits on the terrace of the castle. They cook mainly with local ingredients (a lot from their garden) and make almost everything by themselves, such as olive oil, bread, and etc.

During our stay, we slept in their semi-suite, which is very close to the manor house and opens out to the garden. Their room is spacious with a soothing earthy and camel tones. The bathroom is spacious and spa-like, which has a huge free-standing white bath tube and rain shower.

Couldn’t wish a better place to finish our Mallorca vacation. Thank you, Castell Son Claret, for being such a wonderful host. We hope to visit you again, very soon!

*We were invited as guests by Castell Son Claret, but all opinions are my own.
